Vaiva Bužienė joined Medfiles in May 2024 and works as a Drug Safety Expert. She holds a master’s degree in veterinary medicine from the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (2023). With her background as a trained veterinarian, Vaiva brings valuable clinical insight into Medfiles’ veterinary pharmacovigilance services.
“During and after my veterinary studies, I worked in various veterinary clinics, gaining hands-on clinical experience. Later, I decided to make a career shift by moving into pharmacovigilance, where I could apply my veterinary knowledge in a new and impactful way.”
Daily work in pharmacovigilance for veterinary products
At Medfiles, Vaiva’s work involves both operational and strategic responsibilities in pharmacovigilance for human and veterinary medicinal products. She serves as the local contact person for PV, which includes handling safety case reports, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and communicating with national health authorities.
“I also work on global scientific literature review and signal detection and management for veterinary products – reviewing data to identify and assess potential safety issues. Additionally, I act as a medical advisor and medical back up for Medfiles QPPVs for veterinary medicinal products.”
Vaiva is highly detail-oriented and organised in her work. Her veterinary training helps her understand the clinical context of safety data, bringing medical depth to safety assessments. She communicates clearly and professionally, both within the team and with clients, ensuring smooth cooperation across projects. Always eager to learn, she actively expands her expertise through hands-on work and continuous professional development.
Meaningful work in a flexible and supportive environment
Vaiva values the supportive team environment at Medfiles, the opportunities for professional development, and the flexibility that enables a healthy work–life balance. She finds her work especially meaningful because it contributes to the safe and effective use of medicinal products in both human and veterinary healthcare.
“Although I transitioned away from clinical practice, I believe pharmacovigilance plays an equally important role in protecting animal health by ensuring the safety and effectiveness of veterinary medicinal products.”
